DALI-2 sensors and pushbutton couplers

Technical Application Knowledge: From practice, for practice

A DALI-based lighting system makes it easy for you to implement lighting installations that require additional functionality such as dimming or automatic on/off switching. Due to the mandatory certification process performed by the DiiA (Digital Illumination Interface Alliance), next-generation DALI-2 devices must be compatible with each other even without an extra compatibility check.

DALI Coupler Pushb G2

Combining manual control with automatic sensor functionality is now really easy:
The DALI-2 certified DALI COUPLER PUSHB G2 is a binary input device for installation in in-wall boxes. It is powered by the connected DALI-2-wires and features four input channels for potential-free contacts. You can freely connect switches or pushbuttons, and there are no restrictions with regard to the choice of manufacturer.

By triggering the switches or pushbuttons, the DALI COUPLER PUSHB G2 sends telegrams to a central DALI-2 controller via the DALI-2 wires. To ensure backward compatibility, this coupler can be switched to the manufacturer-specific DALI mode via a software command.

The DALI-2 sensor LS/PD comes with several housing options for ceiling mounting and ceiling integration as well as luminaire integration. This innovative light/motion sensor is specifically designed for multiple lighting applications – such as in modern offices, corridors, high-bay warehouses, as well as for wide-area lighting.

Depending on the sensor type, detection heights of up to 17 meters and detection areas of greater than 200 square meters can be reached.

These DALI-2 devices – i.e., pushbutton couplers and sensors – are connected to a DALI-2 controller via the two DALI wires. Thanks to a usable cable length of the DALI wiring of 300 meters, the position of the control unit can be flexibly chosen. The DALI-2 standard now enables bidirectional communication: Connected devices such as pushbutton couplers, sensors, and LED drivers transmit certain data to the control unit. Afterwards, this information can be used for various tasks, including energy monitoring and failure analysis.

A lighting system based on the DALI-2 standard allows you to combine the components that best suit your application needs – independent of the manufacturer!
